As part of the push towards 64-bit environments which will make better use of new server hardware, it has been announced in the European conference for IT professionals, IT Forum 2005, that E12 will be 64-bit only.

For some reason, during the beta cycle there will also be a 32-bit version floating about. This might either lead to this version going RTM because of some customer protest or simply disappear the way the Windows 2000 for Alpha processors did.
