Through merger, acquisition or corporate decision, your company faces a future with both Microsoft Exchange/Outlook for e-mail and IBM Lotus Domino/Notes for applications or for some mail users. If those applications use workflow or users send Notes doclinks, your company needs Genii Software's CoexLinks, an enterprise solution for Notes doclinks going to Outlook. Works either together with the Microsoft Exchange Connector, or separately with SMTP.
Helps with the Doclinks, but still needs serious App Changes
I called them...
to enable your users to read a document sent in an email, this works fine...
BUT, if sending a doclink for say an expense request approval, this product will convert the doclink to a url and that's it...
The application will still need serious changes to be web enabled to allow edits, etc...
Does not seem to resolve the real problem we are forced to resolve...
CoexLinks
We recently underwent a forced migration from Notes mail to Exchange and kept Notes for applications. Workflows depend heavily on automated emailing of status changes or action requests with an attached document link back to the doc of interest. Doc links don't survive the trip out of Notes meaning our workflows were effectively broken. The manual fix is to create specific attachments that mimic document links (NDL files). To do this manually would have taken months and required we revalidate most of our apps - not a pleasant thought.
With CoexLinks, the job was completed in, ohhhh, about 5 minutes plus maybe an hour to document that it worked. Talk about a ROI! This product absolutely saved our rear ends.
Additionally, the author of this product, Ben Langhinrichs, is totally committed to customer service and is a joy to work with. He also gives back to the Notes community in a huge way though his blog and participation at the Developer Domain.
This is a great product. If you're keeping Notes and moving to Exchange, don't even think about it, just buy the product.
