Below is Microsoft's comment regarding the problems experienced between Outlook and the Add-In. We never formally requested a refund from the vendor.

Microsoft's Comment:

I reviewed and tested your add-in on my test machine. I can see no problem regarding loading and unloading the add-in. The issue that you experience when you try to open Outlook immediately after you have closed it is due to the way Outlook loads and unloads add-ins. It is normal for Outlook to take 2-4 seconds to unload all add-ins and shuts down completely. If you try to open Outlook again during this time, your add-in has not released the handles to Outlook application yet and therefore it causes Outlook to crash. This is not specific to your add-in; it happens when ever there is an add-in installed on top of Outlook.

The only solution to this problem is that your client has to wait until Outlook is cleaned off the memory. You can see when Outlook process is cleared from the memory by opening the task manager and looking at the OUTLOOK.EXE process under Processes tab. When this process disappears from the list of currently active processes, is the safe time to execute Outlook application again.

You can also look at the notification area for Outlook icon. You can see that after you close outlook it takes 2-4 seconds for the outlook icon in the notification area to disappear. That is the time that outlook process is also terminated and it is safe to open Outlook again if you wish to do so.

We cannot get this product to work consistently. We experience various issues, and the company's technical support hasn't be able to help us. We are currently trying to get our money back on the product.
